Tropical Storm Arthur is forecast to turn into a category one hurricane this week.  The current path of the storm will keep Arthur away from the New Jersey coastline.  However, there is the likelihood of sea swells, rough surf, and strong rip currents along our beaches.  Through the weekend and always, please pay close attention to any instructions provided by the Avalon Beach Patrol as it puts your safety first.

The Avalon Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor ocean conditions created by Arthur’s passage along the eastern seaboard.  Currently the Avalon fireworks display is scheduled for Friday, July 4th, at 9:00pm off a barge at the 30th Street beach.  If wind/surf conditions make a fireworks an unsafe condition for Avalon on Friday night, the show will be rescheduled to Sunday, July 6th, at 9:00pm, also at the 30th Street beach.  Sunday evening’s forecast appears favorable for the fireworks show if Friday night’s show is postponed.
