The Avalon Police Department announced on Monday, September 8th at 6:29pm that a portion of Ocean Drive leading to the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic due to flooding and wave over wash on the bridge. The National Weather Service maintains a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for the potential for minor coastal flooding at time of high tide this evening. High tide will occur at 8:12pm on Monday, September 8th. As a safety precaution, access to the bridge from Avalon has been suspended until the flooding and wave over wash concerns are alleviated. Please access Sea Isle City and northern points from Avalon via Avalon Boulevard and northbound routes including the Garden State Parkway and Route 9.
