The National Weather Service has issued another Coastal Flood Advisory for the Borough of Avalon and other seashore communities in our region through 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 10th. There is the potential for some minor coastal flooding in flood prone areas during this morning’s high tide event which will occur at 9:28am. As a precaution, the Avalon Police Department has closed a portion of Ocean Drive leading to the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge effective at 9:05am on Wednesday due to wave over wash on the roadway. The road will be reopened when safe. Here is the text of the advisory issued today by the National Weather Service:

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EDT this
afternoon…

* location… coastal areas of New Jersey and Delaware.

* Coastal flooding… minor tidal flooding is expected at high tide
this morning. High tide this morning will occur between 830 am
and 1030 am and a few hours later in the back bays.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that minor tidal flooding is
anticipated. Minor tidal flooding often results in some Road
closures. Usually… the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged… leading to
costly repairs.
