The National Weather Service has posted a Coastal Flood Warning for our community for Tuesday morning, December 9th. Minor to moderate coastal flooding is expected during high tide on Tuesday morning. A coastal storm will make its way along the New Jersey coastline on Tuesday and will bring some rain, windy conditions, and coastal flooding to our community. The heaviest rain is expected to occur on Tuesday morning with strong 40mph wind gusts. Please take this opportunity to secure any objects that are subject to strong gusty winds. Never attempt to drive on any flooded street, or through any flooded intersection. If you have any emergency, please dial 911.nws-special-weather-statement

High tide will occur at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City at 9:31am on Tuesday and again at 10:03pm. During this storm event, it is very likely more closures of Ocean Drive leading to the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge are possible due to waves from the inlet impacting the roadway. Avalon Police will close the roadway when necessary for safety reasons; plan an alternate route especially around the time of high tide.

If you live on a street that typically experiences high water during flooding events, consider moving your vehicle out of the street to higher ground. Please continue to monitor this weather forecast and the risk of coastal flooding through traditional media outlets.
