The National Weather Service has posted a Winter Storm Warning for the Borough of Avalon for Monday, February 16th at 6pm through Tuesday at Noon.  A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect Monday  morning due to very cold temperatures.Winter Storm Warning

A snow storm is moving through Kentucky and Tennessee Monday morning and is expected to settle over southern New Jersey this evening.  This storm is expected to bring snow and no mixed precipitation to our region.  Snow is expected to begin this evening and become heavy at times especially after midnight.  Snow will end sometime on Tuesday morning.  There will be winds out of the northwest at 15-20mph in advance of the storm and winds will calm down during the snow event overnight.  Total accumulations as forecasted by the National Weather Service are between five and eight inches for our region.

Please exercise caution while driving this evening and during the overnight hours.  Please prepare for hazardous driving conditions on Tuesday morning and give yourself extra time for your commute.  Please limit exposure outdoors during this winter weather, and do not let your pets outside for an extended period of time.

As of 8:15am on Monday, temperatures were at 5 degrees with a wind chill value of -11.
