The National Weather Service has continued the Coastal Flood Warning, the High Wind Warning, and the Winter Weather Advisory for the Borough through tomorrow afternoon in advance of a coastal storm that will bring the Jersey Shore a mixture of rain and snow, with some sleet; strong gusty winds, especially late Tuesday morning and Tuesday afternoon, and the potential for moderate coastal flooding during the Tuesday morning high tide. Areas north and northwest of the shore will receive a heavier snowfall, with more than a foot expected in some areas.

The storm is expected to push into our region during the overnight hours. Tuesday morning may be a mix of rain, sleet, and possibly snow with strong winds. High tide at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge is expected Tuesday at 10:03am. Residents who live in flood prone areas are advised to move their vehicles to higher spots in Avalon. Never attempt to drive on any flooded street as this puts you in danger and creates an unnecessary wake. Here is a flood map for guidances purposes during any flooding storm events in Avalon:

At times, local police may have to close the road leading to the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge. Power outages are possible during this storm event; if you experience an outage, call Atlantic City Electric at 1-800-833-7476. If you have any emergency, dial 911.

The Avalon Department of Public Works has announced that trash collection for Section Two and Section Three are both being delayed by one day. If your regular trash collection day is Tuesday, it will be picked up on Wednesday. If your normal trash collection day is Wednesday, it will be picked up Thursday. The Avalon Free Public Library has postponed both Story Time and Movie Night on Tuesday.

If you have any objects outside of your home that are subject to strong winds, including trash cans and patio furniture, please secure them.

We are in constant communication with the Avalon Office of Emergency Management for further guidance and updates.
