The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Avalon and surrounding communities for Friday, July 14th, until 9:00pm.  It is possible our region will experience storms with frequent lightning, gusty winds, and brief periods of heavy rainfall.  If you see lightning or hear thunder, seek shelter immediately.  Never drive on any street that is flooded as this puts you and your vehicle at risk.  If you experience a power outage, please call Atlantic City Electric at 1-800-833-7476.  Please follow traditional media outlets for updates on the forecast shall they become necessary.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through this evening...     The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a    * Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeastern Pennsylvania,    southern New Jersey, eastern Maryland and Delaware.    * Until midnight EDT tonight.    * Showers and thunderstorms that develop this afternoon will    contain torrential downpours. There is a potential for some    locations to see multiple rounds of storms through this evening.    Some locations could receive rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches    in just a short period, which could produce flash flooding.     * Flash flooding of creeks, streams and roadways will be possible,    especially in urban and poor drainage areas. Additionally, areas    in Berks and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania and in far    southern New Jersey that received heavy rainfall since yesterday    afternoon will be susceptible to flash flooding.     Precautionary/preparedness actions...     A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead  to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.    You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action  should flash flood warnings be issued.
