The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Avalon. The Watch is in effect on Saturday, June 29th until 7:00pm.
A pop up thunderstorm is possible during the late afternoon hours. A front that will bring some relief from the humidity will come across our area early this evening and may produce more widespread thunderstorms. These storms could produce heavy rainfall in a short period of time which may lead to some street flooding. If you hear thunder or see lightning, seek shelter immediately. Never attempt to drive on any street that is flooded by rainwater.
This Watch may be elevated to a Warning which means a thunderstorm is imminent. Avalon has prepared a flood risk map that shows where streets may be flooded during storm events.
