The Avalon Office of Emergency Management continues to keep a watchful eye on Hurricane Sandy which has formed in the Atlantic Ocean south of Cuba.  The storm is expected to slowly come up the eastern seaboard of the United States and may cause some weather issues for Avalon and surrounding areas during the latter part of the weekend into early next week.

The National Weather Service reports today that there is an increased risk of this storm becoming a weather event for our region.  We will continue to track the storm as it comes closer to the United States mainland and issue any advisories or warnings as warranted.

Here is a PDF of the advisory issued today by the National Weather Service to the Avalon Office of Emergency Management.
