The National Weather Service has continued the Coastal Flood Warning for Avalon through Tuesday, October 4th, at 9:00pm.  A High Wind Advisory is now in effect, along with the Rip Current and High Surf advisories.  There is the potential for moderate tidal flooding at times of high tide, especially Monday afternoon.  Monday afternoon’s high tide at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge will occur at 2:52pm.

Sunday, Avalon experienced widespread tidal flooding due to this storm event.  Please be prepared for additional street flooding on Monday.  Never attempt to drive on any street or intersection that is flooded as this puts you and your vehicle at risk; driving on a flooded street also may cause a wake that can damage public and private property.  Areas of Ocean and Dune drives were among the streets to receive tidal flooding on Sunday.  Borough offices will close at 1:00pm Monday so employees may get home safely.  There may be times when the access road to the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge will be closed for safety reasons.

Winds will continue out of the northeast today with gusts approaching 45mph.  There will be intermittent rain today, and a better chance of steady rain this evening.

Avalon officials will participate in a meeting called by the Cape May County Department of Emergency Management later today.  It is possible Avalon will update the community with another Code Red emergency call Monday.

If you have any emergency, please dial 9-1-1.
