The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for Avalon. The Warning is in effect from Saturday, June 3rd at 6:00pm until Sunday, June 4th at 2:00am. There is the potential for moderate tidal flooding at time of high tide which occurs at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge at 8:21 this evening.
Please be aware that this evening’s high tide result in salt water covering portions of Ocean Drive, and may impact portions of Dune Drive in Avalon. Streets west of the bridges in the northern section of our community may be impacted during tonight’s high tide event which is exacerbated by the lunar cycle, and persistent northeasterly winds.
If you live in a flood prone section of Avalon consider moving your vehicle to a street that is not prone to flooding in our community. Never drive on a street with tidal flooding as this may do damage to public and private property, as well as your vehicle. If you have any emergency, please dial 911.
You may view Avalon’s flood risk map on our emergency management website, Avalon emergency dot org.
